It's no secret that I love to eat. I love growing food and learning all that I can about baking, baking techniques, and making dishes that my children will actually eat. Below are some that I have made over the years and wanted to highlight on here for one reason or another. More recipes + ideas coming soon!

These are the perfect spring/summer cookies! I love to bake with lavender and Washington State is home to many lavender farms to source locally. You should be able to find it at your local grocer in the baking/spice section.
Lavender Shortbread

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
In a large bowl, blend flour into melted butter. Add brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Add cream and stir until well blended. Pour into crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes, until the center is jiggly but not liquid. Cool completely. Serve with whipped cream. Serves 6 to 8.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar, butter, and shortening, and beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg. Blend well. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by the scoop on a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat Bake for 9 to 10 minutes. Let rest a few minutes then transfer to wire rack.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Make a simple syrup with equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Let simmer for 15-20 mins. Cool. Cut and juice 7-8 lemons. Strain juice to remove seeds or extra pulp.
In pitcher or punch bowl, add simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and stir well. Add 4-5 cups of water. Add sliced remaining lemons then ice. Taste, if you want a more tart-tasting lemonade add key lime juice to your preferred tartness. Stir well. Add other berries such as strawberries or blueberries.
